It is situated in Lomé, Togo’s capital. It was established in 1975 and houses ethnographic, cultural, and artistic exhibits. It is located near Independence Square in the Congress Palace. This fully air-conditioned museum is ideal for learning about Togolese culture. The display cases tell the local story while also displaying excellent examples of traditional art. There are beautiful painted maps, and old photos and drawings depict Togo’s history. Other exhibits include musical instruments, objects dating back thousands of years, clay pots, shell-decorated baskets, and calabashes used to preserve food and water.

We are committed to Africa

Unlike many global publications, for nearly a decade we have been committed to showing a complete picture of Africa – not just a single story.  Offended by one-sided coverage of wars, disasters and disease, the founders of created a website that provides a balanced view of Africa – current events, business, arts & culture, travel, fashion, sports, information, development, and more.
