
West Africa’s stock market, the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM), has reached a record market capitalization of $23.8 billion, marking a major milestone for the region’s financial ecosystem. This growth reflects a 29.13% rise since the end of 2024 and an impressive five-year cumulative increase of nearly 198%, highlighting the exchange’s resilience and dynamism. The BRVM Composite Index (BRVM-C) has surged 22.29% in 2025 alone, signaling strong investor confidence. Representing about 17.78% of WAEMU’s GDP, the BRVM’s performance mirrors gains across Africa, including a 73.92% rise in Ghana and a 43.54% increase in Nigeria. As the continent’s fifth-largest exchange, the BRVM continues to strengthen its strategic role, promoting deeper integration and collaboration within Africa’s growing financial markets.
