A draft United Nations report concludes that Boeing 727 aircraft tied to a US contractor’s business network transported fighters, drones, and weapons to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Investigators said the aircraft operated through Chad into RSF-controlled hubs in Darfur while allegedly taking deliberate measures to avoid flight detection. The report also found credible evidence that up to 2,000 Colombian mercenaries, hired through a UAE-based company, supported RSF operations during the assault on al-Fashir. The findings increase international pressure on individuals and entities linked to the supply network while strengthening calls for stricter enforcement of the UN arms embargo placed on the country in 2004. Such a development could diminish the RSF’s logistical advantages, potentially shifting leverage toward international accountability efforts and influencing future diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending Sudan’s conflict.
