Rwanda’s agricultural export earnings hit a record $1.1 billion in the 2025/2026 fiscal year, crossing the billion-dollar threshold for the first time. The figure marks a roughly 24% jump from the previous year’s $893 million and follows a 6.4% rise the year before that. Officials attributed the growth to stronger export infrastructure, improved product traceability, market diversification, and closer ties with international buyers, alongside efforts to promote agricultural exports like coffee. Rwanda is now closing in on its target of $1.5 billion in annual agricultural export revenue by 2028/2029, needing roughly $400 million more to reach that goal through continued diversification and value addition.
