ExxonMobil has awarded approximately $1.1 billion in pre-investment contracts for upstream equipment linked to the first phase of the Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province. The contracts were issued on behalf of the Area 4 partnership, which includes Mozambique’s state-owned Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, China National Petroleum Corp, Eni, Korea Gas Corp, and Abu Dhabi National Oil Co’s XRG. The awards cover subsea production systems, large-bore production valves, and offshore line pipe, supporting preparations for a final investment decision. OneSubsea UK and OneSubsea AS received the largest contract, covering engineering, procurement, fabrication, and manufacturing of subsea production systems, controls, and umbilicals, while Aker Solutions Mozambique will handle in-country work. ExxonMobil lifted force majeure on the project in November after suspending operations in 2021 because of security concerns.
