Nigeria’s Dangote Petroleum Refinery has surpassed the United States as Europe’s largest external supplier of jet fuel, shipping an estimated 466,000 metric tons in June. The shipments, worth about $553 million, nearly doubled from May’s 232,000 metric tons. In contrast, US shipments to the bloc fell to 399,000 metric tons from 560,000. The surge came despite softening European jet fuel prices, which dropped from record highs in March amid oversupply. Since becoming a net fuel exporter in 2024, Dangote Refinery has transformed Nigeria from a major importer into a significant global fuel supplier. The company plans to invest an additional $46 billion between 2026 and 2028, including a proposed refinery in Kenya that would expand its refining network to 2.1 million barrels per day across Africa.
