Burkina Faso Claims Major Win Against Armed Groups

Burkina Faso’s military says it repelled coordinated attacks on several army positions on June 30, killing more than 400 assailants. According to the armed forces, ground troops supported by airstrikes defeated the attackers in Gayeri, Solhan, and Sebba, recovering more than 250 motorcycles, hundreds of weapons, ammunition, and communication equipment. Three soldiers were killed in the fighting. The army said security operations are continuing as forces pursue those who fled, and it urged residents to cooperate with authorities. Officials linked the attacks to Burkina Faso’s decision to cut diplomatic ties with France, alleging that France backs armed groups operating in the country. The claims have not been independently verified.
