Ankara Deepens Trade Ties With Africa

Türkiye exported $11 billion worth of goods to African countries during the first half of the year, a 12% increase from a year earlier, highlighting Ankara’s expanding commercial ties with the continent. The growth reflects a long-term strategy launched in 2003 to strengthen trade, investment, and business cooperation across Africa. Morocco led as the top destination for Turkish goods, followed by Egypt, Libya, Algeria, and Tunisia. Turkish investment in Morocco spans automotive manufacturing, textiles, mining, and logistics, bolstered by a bilateral free trade agreement. Turkish firms also see opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure and construction, given Morocco’s role as a co-host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Likewise, in Egypt, Turkish firms are expanding their investments, with greater participation expected in the country’s planned smart city developments.
