3i Africa Summit

The 3i Africa Summit, held for the first time in Ghana, concluded with a surge of excitement and optimism for Africa’s digital future. Over the past few days, attendees engaged in vibrant discussions, innovative presentations, and impactful panels, all aimed at advancing the continent’s digital agenda.

The event, a joint initiative by the Bank of Ghana (BOG), Development Bank Ghana (DBG), Monetary Authority of Singapore, and supported by Elevandi, aimed to foster transformative discussions and explore significant growth and investment opportunities in Africa’s financial ecosystem.

Throughout the summit, key themes emerged, particularly the role of fintech in driving financial inclusion and the necessity of digital infrastructure for facilitating cross-border payments. The discussions were not just theoretical but aimed at forging a new path forward for Africa’s digital future.

The summit was officially opened by Dr. Ernest Addison, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, who highlighted the continent’s potential for digital transformation given its youthful, tech-savvy population and growing mobile network assets.

Keynote speeches included insights from H.E. President Akuffo Addo, President of Ghana, who announced a $200 million facility to support SMEs, and Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Minister of Finance, who emphasized the importance of a strong financial services sector for the success of financial innovations.

Day One concluded with a five-panel discussion on “Africa, The Next Frontier for Investment,” highlighting Africa’s economic growth prospects and the need for increased capital flow to support this growth.

Day Two showcased the diversity of African innovation, including the “Women in Tech Conference” and the “Agriculture & Fintech Forum,” which highlighted the intersection of these crucial sectors.

The summit concluded with a commitment to building a future for Africa powered by innovation and responsible growth, underscored by sessions on upskilling youth and fostering innovation hubs.

With these powerful words, the 3i Africa Summit in Ghana came to a close, leaving attendees inspired and motivated to drive Africa’s digital transformation forward.
