African stars dazzled at the 2025 Met Gala, proudly embracing this year’s theme—Superfine: Tailoring Black Style—with bold elegance and cultural pride. South African sensation Tyla stunned in a custom white Jacquemus pinstripe gown and cape, styled by the iconic Law Roach. Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy made a powerful statement in a custom red tuxedo with an oxblood eelskin cape, crafted by Ozwald Boateng. His fellow Afrobeats star Ayra Starr turned heads in a custom Gaurav Gupta gown. Tems, dressed in Ankara fabric, also brought signature grace and presence to the iconic stairs of the Met. Meanwhile, feminist icon and author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie made a mark in a stunning red gown decked with ties. Though the theme leaned into Black American heritage, these African artists brought their own flair, proving that Black style is undeniably global.
