Turning Up the Heat                

HEAT, a new winter arts festival in Cape Town was originally designed to spark life in an otherwise dormant part of the South African art calendar, but it’s showing promise to be much more. With “common ground” as the theme of the festival, organizer Mary Corrigall is encouraging galleries to take risks by focusing on less “commercial” work and promoting lesser known artists and curators.
