Paragliders flying over Egypt’s Great Pyramids at sunrise last week spotted an unexpected sight—a stray dog on top of the Khafre Pyramid, the country’s second tallest pyramid. US paraglider Marshall Mosher, who captured the viral moment, initially thought the dog might be stuck, but it later descended safely. Hundreds of stray dogs roam the pyramid complex, and while it’s unclear if the same dog made multiple appearances, Mosher is now looking into animal shelters in Cairo to help these strays. The video of the adventurous canine garnered millions of views on Instagram overnight, with some viewers drawing connections to Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of the dead.
