The Africa-America Institute Celebrates 70 Years

AAI 70th Gala

The Africa-America Institute (AAI) – the premier U.S.-based organization connecting Africa to America through education, training, and dialogue – has reached an exciting milestone in its rich history as the renowned institution celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. Since its inception in 1953, AAI has evolved to serve as a convener and bridge between the U.S. and Africa – remaining committed to advancing the continent’s development. Over the course of its seven decades, AAI has provided over 23,000 scholarships and fellowships to African students and AAI alumni are at the forefront of the public, non-profit, and private sectors today.

In recognition of its anniversary year, AAI will host a special 70th Anniversary Gala to be hosted by Bozoma Saint John with honorees including Debra Lee, MTN Group, Evelyn Jones Rich and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The evening will also include a fireside chat with H.E. Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia and AAI Alumnus. Held annually during the UNGA for over 39 years, AAI’s Annual Awards Gala raises funds to support the institution’s initiatives and is one of the most anticipated African-centered events in New York City.
