The New York Times takes a look at this election, along with the coup d’état unfolding in Mali, to analyze the rise and setbacks of democracy on the continent. Elsewhere in the news, CNN profiles Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, a Cameroonian prince who also happens to be averaging 22 minutes per game for the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. Kenyans are currently weighing its country’s future after a discovery of oil, and The Economist takes a look at Egypt’s Coptic Christian community, which is reeling after the death of its leader, Pope Shenouda.
