Nyungwe is one of the largest protected high altitude forests on the continent and the furthest source of both the Congo and Nile Rivers. Discover many rare plant, bird and primate species – many of which are unique and endemic to the Albertine Rift. Roam through the forest along its network of trails, explore tea plantations and look over the canopy from East Africa’s only walkway above the trees... Nyungwe harbors 13 primate species including the chimpanzee, the handsome L’Hoest’s monkey and hundred strong super-troops of Angola Colobus monkeys. The forest is a birder’s paradise, with avian highlights such as the great blue Turaco, rare and stunning Sunbirds and the black and white casqued Hornbill.
