EVENT: Brotherhood/Sister Sol Fundraiser in NYC—Thursday, June 16th

The Friends of The Brotherhood/Sister Sol invite you to party with a purpose at VOYAGE: Summer Cocktail on Thursday, June 16 from 7-11 p.m. at 320 Studios NYC (320 West 37 St., between 8th and 9th Avenues).

This event will feature an open bar sponsored by Heineken and Hennessy and and a performance by DJ Reborn. Early bird tickets are available through June 12 at $40 ($50 after June 12). There will be no ticket sales at the door. Your purchase of a ticket to Voyage will help fund essential summer programs of The Brotherhood/Sister Sol.

All proceeds to benefit the summer programs of The Brotherhood/Sister Sol. This summer, The Brotherhood/Sister Sol will provide employment opportunities and enrichment programs that include

Summer Day Camp: 5-week enrichment camp including one-week camping experience for youth, ages 7 - 12
Gaia Environmental Program: 8-week gardening, landscaping, green job training, and environmental justice program for youth, ages 14 - 19
Summer Liberation School: 4-week intensive community organizing training for youth, ages 14-17
Bro/Sis Arts & Media Summer Program: 5-week performance arts and media literacy program for youth, ages 13 - 16
International Study Program to Ghana, West Africa: 4-week study abroad opportunity for youth, ages 14-19

Founded in 1995, The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (Bro/Sis) provides comprehensive, holistic, and long-term support services to youth who range in age from eight to twenty-two. Bro/Sis offers wrap around evidence-based programming. The organization focuses on issues such as leadership development and educational achievement, sexual responsibility, sexism and misogyny, political education and social justice, pan-African and Latino history, and global awareness. Bro/Sis provides four-six year rites of passage programming, thorough five-day-a-week after-school care, school and home counseling, summer camps, job training and employment, college preparation, community organizing training, and international study programs to Africa and Latin America. Bro/Sis publishes assorted curricula and collections of our members’ writings and trains educators from throughout the nation on our approach. Our theory of change is to provide multi-layered support, guidance and love to our membership, to teach them to have self-discipline and form order in their lives, and then offer opportunities and access so that they may develop agency.

The Friends of The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (The Friends of Bro/Sis) hosts special fundraising events to support Bro/Sis programs.
