Museums in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa is home to the National Museum, which houses a general collection of regional archaeology, history, and art. The Ethnographic Museum at the Institute of Ethiopian Studies includes collections of religious art, musical instruments, and ancient coins. A former palace, Addis Alem Museum used to be the home of Emperor Menelik II. Patriarchate Museum and Library protects the heritage of past religious leaders and preserves religious icons and items.

The Museum at the Holy Trinity Church was built to commemorate Ethiopia's liberation from Italian occupation and preserve religious and historical relics.  The Zoological Natural History Museum was established in 1955 to preserve and promote wildlife heritage.
