The 10th Annual African Economic Forum is about celebrating and building upon Africa’s current economic momentum. Entitled “Africa Ignited: Exploring Ideas, Shaping Outcomes,” it is also about sharing opportunities.

The African Economic Forum has grown from its modest beginnings to become the largest Africa-focused event at Columbia, bringing over 400 participants to campus last year. The forum has hosted a number of important scholars, policy makers, and practitioners, including Lamido Sanusi, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; H.E. Amina S Ali, African Union Representative to the US; Danny Jordan, CEO of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee; Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister of Finance for the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Mark Walton, Executive Vice President of The Africa Channel; and Dr. Jian-Ye Wang, Chief Economist of the China Export- Import Bank, among many other distinguished guests.

This year, as the African Economic Forum  marks a decade of successful partnerships that have brought exceptional minds together, our focus will be on the realization of our discussions, the leap from ideas to outcomes. Across panels, we will highlight inspiring projects on the continent from the past decade, look at challenges faced in their implementation, and articulate solutions to address them.

Conference events will include the Pre-Conference Party in February, an evening Gala, Networking Sessions, and a Career Fair in March, which will bring together some of today’s most influential actors on the African continent. Panel discussions will include a wide range of topics such as entrepreneurship, real estate, manufacturing, urban development and infrastructure, consumer markets, and more. Registration is open and space is limited.
