AMREF was founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa by Michael Wood, Archibald McIndoe and Tom Rees, doctors who literally flew to the remotest communities of East Africa to bring medical care. Since then, we have been creating simple and cost-effective health solutions that transform the lives of families and communities across East Africa.

The HEALTHYGIRLSANDWOMEN=HEALTHYAFRICA benefit luncheon is dedicated to expanding AMREF’s vital work helping girls and women in Africa live healthy and productive lives.

“AMREF has been saving lives year after year for decades, and should give us all hope that even the most complex health challenges can be overcome.” —Bill Gates

Winner of the Gates Award, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for Global Health
