Cocktails and Conversation Spice Up Dry African Dating Scene

In the past month, exclusive mixers have been held for young African professionals in London, Boston, Chicago, New York, and D.C. These social events have served as launch parties for Bandeka.com, the first invite-only online community for well-educated Africans.Recently dubbed as “Africa’s Hottest Tech Startup” by Forbes.com, Bandeka was founded in 2011 by two Harvard Business School alums, Yaw Boateng and Tunde Kehinde. The site aims to make it easier for well-educated Africans to meet, connect, and date those outside their immediate circles while balancing their busy schedules. However, Bandeka is not your average dating site. We recognize that online dating is somewhat of a taboo for Africans, thus in addition to interactive features online, we host mixers for members to meet and chat in-person.

Bandeka will be hosting a mixer this Saturday, December 3rd in New York; and before the end of the year, Bandeka will be hosting events in Lagos, Accra, and Kampala.

Hope Is Never A Good Strategy

The educated African has become so skilled at crafting his or her career. We spend time researching the best institutions and companies to add to our CVs, and then work hard to achieve our goals; but do we put the same amount of time and effort into finding our future mates? It’s time we took more of a proactive stance to our love lives. Why leave this up to chance- hope is never a good strategy. Join Bandeka today, and spend a little time researching some of the best African prospects around! As a member of the Bandeka community, you will be able to get relationship advice, find out who has a mutual interest in you, and attend our private offline events.

If you do not know anyone on the site, email us at talktous@bandeka.com and tell us about yourself. If you’re in a relationship already, join Bandeka as a matchmaker (the site offers you this option), so that you can invite your friends to join the platform.

Make sure to like Bandeka on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter. Also, check out our blog at loveafrican.wordpress.com.
