Founded as a vehicle to raise awareness of modern African designers and artists, Africa Fashion Week is an opportunity to experience cutting-edge designs from across the African continent and within the Diaspora.

The label is often associated with African artists, on or off the Continent. Some, who worry that the very best African talent is abroad, call these “Afropolitans” a symptom of a “brain drain” but others use more neutral terms and say they are part of the Diaspora.
