by Ashley Michelle Williams, News Associate, NBC(Editor's Note: Ashley Michelle Williams, a news associate at NBC, is penning a series of blog posts about a recent trip to South Africa. Previous posts: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V)Africa is the epitome of beauty.
From the kindness of its people to its beautiful landscapes and breath-taking animals, I cannot even describe to you all of the beauty that this continent offers to the world. Being in South Africa, I got to experience this beauty during a safari extravaganza! Going on a safari has always been a dream of mine.
I really appreciated the generosity of Kwandwe Private Game Reserve for allowing a friend and me to partake on a safari. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity took place on Kwandewe’s conservation site, which is about 5,500 acres long. In my opinion, Kwandwe is one of the best game reserves and conservations sites to visit in the Eastern Cape! I also love the Great River Lodge, where those who are taking a safari vacation can stay.

For a full day, my friend and I were taken throughout the private reserve in a safari jeep to see beautiful animals in their own natural environments. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life! There is nothing like being in the fresh open air on a beautiful day in South Africa. We saw lions, cheetahs, ostriches, pumas, muskrats, rhinos, and more. I kept thinking I was watching the show National Geographic, because everything just seemed so extraordinary and unreal. Yet these animals were right in front us, allowing us to take in their beauty.
Additionally, I really could not believe how kind and hospitable the people of Kwandwe were. I love their mission of preserving beauty and of being so welcoming to their many visitors. In fact, after our safari, we were invited to have lunch at their beautiful resort, offering a great view of the savanna and a peaceful Eastern Cape River. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. To me, it is truly one of the best resorts and vacation areas in the world, and I definitely plan on coming back to stay there in the future.
All in all, I think one of the best things about this safari extravaganza that I experienced at Kwandwe was how it opened me up even more to the beauty of God. There is nothing like being right in front of the world's most beautiful creatures and realizing just how powerful and amazing God truly is. I am incredibly thankful to Kwandwe for this experience that changed my life.
I really hope that you too will be able to go on a safari and to experience all of the beauty that life has to offer.
